The beauty industry has been top of mind for both industry insiders and everyday consumers in the past few weeks. Everything from the emergence of sub-brands like Glossier Play to Kylie Jenner expanding her empire, to beauty YouTubers both stirring up drama and spilling tea in the kitchen of The Beauty World, it can be hard to keep up with it all. Luckily, amidst all of the chaos and the "he said, she said" for you we have spotted the most inspiring summer make-up looks and we promise, you'll be obsessed. Whether you're on the east coast where it's hot, sunny and humid every day or the west coast, there's a look for you! Strap on your favorite primer and ready your brushes. Let's go!
Pop of Color
We are living for this pop of color makeup look for the summer! Get creative and bold this summer with a colored eyeliner or eyeshadow and a colored lip. What's so amazing about this look is that it seems intimidating but in reality it's totally simple. After you have applied your foundation, bronzer, blush, and eyebrows, slap on a bright-colored lipstick and use any flat brush to create the eye look. There are so many ways to add a pop of color to the eyes. If you're an expert at winged eye-liner, swap your old black eyeliner for a bright color. If you're not the best at eyeliner, that's okay too. Dip your finger into a cream eyeshadow and blend it gently all over the lid! No matter how you achieve this look, you're bound to stand out!
The "No-Makeup" Makeup Look
This has got to be my favorite makeup look yet. I love when people wear little to no makeup and just focus on enhancing their natural beauty. This is great for everyday use, and since you'll be outside tanning on the rooftop (we can all dream right?) you won't need to wear a ton of makeup anyway. Start by applying SPF, moisturizer, and a liquid illuminator to brighten, protect, and make your skin glow like a disco ball. Next, add a cream blush (my personal favorite is, you guessed it, Glossier Cloud Paint.) Then simply finish the look off with a little bit of brow product, mascara, and a lipgloss or chapstick. Your skin won't feel heavy throughout the day, and you can show off how well your K-Beauty face masks have been helping your skin!
I wouldn't say this is a look specific to one season, but a look nonetheless and if you haven't tried it, summer is the best time to do so. Make a statement with Soap Brows. Yes, it got its name because it involves an actual bar of soap. I personally was scared to try this trend out, but I eventually did and loved it. All you need is a brow spool and a bar of soap to get the effect. To achieve this look, your brush the spoolie against the dry soap bar then brush through your brows. The dry soap acts as a wax-like substance for your brows, which holds them in place. The spoolie does a great job of separating the hairs to give you a fuller and bushier effect. This is a great way to switch up your brow routine this summer and also lift the eye area for even more fun summer eye looks.
Keep the eyes as warm as possible this summer with the sunset eye look. Similar to an actual sunset and how the colors of yellow, red, and orange blend and fade into each other, your eyeshadow can do the same. This is great if you want a little bit of color on your eyes but you're more of a warm-tone gal. Bright colors may not be your thing and that's okay! Some of my favorite eyeshadows are from Too Faced, Flesh Beauty, and Glossier. Whether you prefer cream or powder shadows, this look is great for everyone!
Metallic Lip Gloss
Metallic lip gloss is such an easy way to make your lips shine and stay moisturized all summer long, and we're obsessed! Wear it alone or on top of your favorite nude lipstick. There are so many brands with so many shades it can be hard to find the perfect one. Here are some of my tried and trues. Bite Beauty Prismatic Pearl, Jouer Long-Wearing Lip Topper, Modern Metals LipGloss from E.L.F, and of course Buxom Lip Gloss.
