We spoke with style blogger Payton Rodewald (you might know her as @petitepayton on Instagram) to learn some styling tips for all the petite girls out there. In a world where models are extra tall and designers often create with them in mind, Payton has some advice for short girls.
Social Decay: Where are you based?
Payton Rodewald: Des Moines, Iowa
SD: When did you start style blogging?
PR: I started about 4 years ago while I was in college as a hobby. I absolutely fell in love with it, so now it is a bigger part of me.
SD: What are your best styling tips for petite girls?
PR: Don't be afraid to splurge on getting your clothes tailored- It's totally worth it. I also always go for high-waisted pants/jeans and I try to match my shoes to the color of my pant for a more elongating look.
SD: Do you have any go-to shops for your body type?
PR: My go-to's are ASOS, Ann Taylor (they have the best petite pants & jeans, plus they last forever), and Topshop.
SD: Who influences your style?
PR: I love getting fashion inspiration from 60s icons. I think my style is a mix of classic Audrey Hepburn with the quirks of Twiggy.
SD: Must-have pieces for this upcoming spring?
PR: Simple, light-weight turtlenecks (especially if you live in cooler climates like I do), button-front skirts, and a good pair of ankle boots.
