Spring is finally here—it’s time to add some new life to our closet. As our wardrobe changes with the weather, new trends are springing about for the season. From bold patterns to unexpected pieces, all of this season's trends point to having fun and being creative with your outfits. Here are five fashion trends you’ll be seeing all spring:
Fluorescent colors dominated the ‘80s fashion scene and now neons are back taking over your Instagram feed. Dare to go all out in a bright co-ord set. There’s something about monochrome that makes any outfit look expensive. Plus, matching sets make you look super put together with minimal effort. If an entirely neon outfit makes you feel like a highlighter and you’re looking for something more wearable, pair a neon top with a black or white bottom. Neon tops are going to be sold everywhere this season, so give the trend a go!
2. Polka Dots
Be prepared to spot tons of polka dots on your favorite fashion bloggers this spring. Polka dots seem to be a classic pattern that always finds its way back on trend—and I’m here for it. I don’t know about you, but wearing polka dots always makes me feel a bit classier than usual. You really can’t go wrong with a polka dot top and some solid bottoms. To make things a bit more interesting, go monochrome but let the color of the dots disrupt the coordination and dictate the color of your accessories.
Fringe makes life so much more fun. I really can’t think of another fashion embellishment adds so much dimension and even motion to an outfit. A lot of people tend to be on the fringe of trying this trend out but ultimately avoid it because it seems to festival-y for everyday wear, but a casual outfit with fringe is definitely possible! You can keep it subtle with a bag with fringe detailing or take a step further by getting a fringe skirt to pair with your favorite Social Sunday tee.
4. Biker Shorts
Biker shorts were pretty trendy last summer and they’re here to stay this season. If I had to live in a single outfit for the rest of my life, I’d probably go for an oversized t shirt and a pair of plain black biker shorts because it’s the epitome of comfort. I’d just add some accessories, like a waist bag, to look like I didn’t just roll out of bed. There are just so many different tops you can pair with biker shorts. You could even go bold and go for printed or colored shorts (have some fun—it’s Spring!).
5. Oversized Blazers
Officewear tastefully meets street style with the blazer trend. This spring, experiment with slightly oversized blazers to create looks that scream CONTRAST—I’m talking professional yet casual, masculine and feminine, uptown with a hint of downtown…the list goes on. All of us are really expecting the unexpected when it comes to how blazers are styled. P.S. The blazer as a dress is such a look!
