Especially since Spring is ending up to be very chilly here in New York, it's very hard to shed our leather and/or denim jackets. To give them a fun, warm weather update, load up the collars and lapels with pins and buttons. Tip: if you're working with a moto jacket, it's best to use a jacket that's already a little beaten up or that you don't mind making holes in the leather/faux leather.
This kind of necklace/tie dates way back, with Native american and Western origins. Now, they are edgy, updated accessories that work with tons of outfits.
This is a super easy DIY project. You can go to the craft store and buy some faux suede strips, or even use black shoelaces. Make them as long as you want and then wrap and tie to your heart's content. Otherwise, plenty of online sites like Gypsy Warrior & Nasty Gal have some awesome bolo necklaces with some more details, like hanging charms or medallions.
